Social Media Trends That Could Affect Your Business
A Study reveals that social media preferences and tactics have shifted and evolved in the last several years.
CHICAGO –– (January 4th, 2022) RPR® (Realtors Property Resource®) announced the results of its December 2021 Social Media and Digital Marketing Survey. The report includes survey responses from over 1,200 REALTORS® who use social and digital media in their marketing efforts. – Still valid for people with non-real estate websites.
One of the most revealing facts taken from the study, is the change in usage of social media websites and digital applications.
- While still the most used, Facebook has gone from 93.60% usage in 2017 to 78.47% in 2021. Facebook lost 231 BILLION dollars in ONE Day – whoopsie!
- Instagram has grown the most, from the #5 spot in 2017, 29.06%, to #2 in 2021 with 49.84% – go Insta!
- LinkedIn usage has dropped dramatically, from the #2 spot, 57.14% in 2017, to 3rd with 26.43% – you get too much spam from that platform anyway.
- YouTube has held steady: 21.69% in 2017, 21.69% in 2019, and 19.33% in 2021
- Twitter has been almost fully marginalized out of the social media world, with 30.05% usage in 2017, compared with 6.12% in 2021 – can’t understand why people are leaving the Twit… 👀
- TikTok, (my personal favorite) appears to be the emerging new kid on the block. – go TikTok!!!
SO, what does this mean for your website and marketing strategy? Facebook advertising may not be such a good investment in the future since advertisers and customers are leaving the Social Media platform in droves. Only time will tell how this effects your business. It might be a good idea to diversify or, at least, add a new channel to your repertoire to keep your edge in the game. (I would suggest TikTok – if my 10 year old granddaughter can do it you can too!)
Oh, and here’s a little trivia for you. Facebook, or META, is breaking ground in Kuna, ID and plans to invest 800 Million in their new data center there. They are also investing 50 Million dollars in rebuilding the water system of Kuna.
hummm… Maybe it’s time to invest in land over there… Read more
